When has asking a different question changed what you thought you already understood?
Writing regularly has taught me that having a topic and having a useful question are very different things. A topic gives me somewhere to start. A good question gives me somewhere to explore.
I especially value the moment when research does not fit my first interpretation. That is often where the more interesting learning begins.
