Some natural places and creatures become familiar simply because we encounter them repeatedly.
Perhaps you recognize a particular bird outside your window. Maybe there is a tree you notice during every walk. You may even have unofficial names for animals regularly appearing around your home.

What familiar trees, birds, animals, gardens, waterways, or natural places have become part of your everyday life?

Janice often sits on the railing outside my office. Seeing her has become part of my morning landscape. I notice when she visits, and I notice when she does not.
People occasionally wonder how I know the animals’ names. I listen closely. Somehow, they tell me. No introductions or nametags are needed.
Naming familiar wildlife adds some humor without changing what these creatures are. They remain wild animals living their own lives. I simply enjoy recognizing my neighbors.
