Most of us can identify evidence supporting something we already believe.
The more difficult question is different:
What evidence could convince us that our explanation needs to change?
Human judgment can be influenced by expectations, experiences, interests, loyalties, and incomplete information. That does not automatically mean someone is dishonest.
It means all of us have reasons to check where our thumbs might be touching the scale.

Think about an everyday belief you hold with confidence.
What evidence supports it?
What observation would challenge it?
Have you ever changed your mind after reality contradicted an explanation you strongly believed?
Where do you think evidence ends and personal values begin?
Evidence cannot settle every disagreement.
We can measure consequences, compare observations, and test many factual claims. Questions about what we value can remain.
Recognizing whether we are discussing evidence or values can change the entire conversation.
Have you ever realized that a disagreement you thought concerned facts was really about different priorities?
