First impressions happen remarkably quickly.
We notice someone’s expression, voice, clothing, posture, and behavior. Almost immediately, our minds begin organizing those observations into a story about the person.
The interesting question is how much of that story comes from what we actually observed.
Someone speaks very little.
Observation: They did not say much.
Interpretation: They are shy.
Those statements are not identical.
Our first impression may contain useful information. More experience can confirm it, modify it, or replace it entirely.

Has someone ever made a strong first impression that later proved incomplete?
What changed your view?
How much time do you think we should give someone before becoming confident in our judgment?
Share an experience where curiosity revealed something your first impression missed.
Some of the most interesting relationships can begin with an incomplete first impression.
A person who initially seems reserved may become wonderfully conversational. Someone who appears extremely confident may later reveal uncertainty and vulnerability.
Those changes remind me how little information a first meeting actually provides.
Has someone ever become very different from the person you thought you first met?
