We often imagine scientific progress as a sequence of discoveries that gradually produced the correct answer.
The history of quantum physics was much less orderly.
Some of its most important physicists disagreed about models, mathematics, probability, and the meaning of quantum theory. Those disagreements forced deeper questions and new ways of examining evidence.

When knowledgeable people disagree about evidence, what can make that disagreement productive?
