At the same time, many applications are intentionally designed to encourage prolonged engagement. Notifications, endless scrolling, and constantly changing content stimulate reward pathways within the brain. Neurobiology explains that dopamine reinforces behaviors associated with novelty and anticipation, making it easy to lose track of time.
