That number cannot tell us whether we were learning, working, communicating, creating, gaming, or repeatedly checking notifications.

What if humanity's first contact begins with a scientific pattern rather than a spacecraft?

The First Conversation is my new science fiction novel about scientists who discover an unexpected relationship hidden within experimental data. What begins as an anomaly gradually becomes something far more difficult to explain.

The story explores consciousness, scientific evidence, communication, curiosity, and our assumptions about intelligence. It asks whether consciousness could arise through a physical organization very different from biological life.

I wanted the science to matter. The scientists question their own conclusions, test alternative explanations, repeat experiments, and seek independent verification before accepting extraordinary possibilities.

At its center, however, this is a story about communication.

What happens when two forms of intelligence recognize each other for the first time?

I invite fellow Quantumarians and science fiction readers to join the discussion.
